Our Management Team

Ben Roberts

Managing Director

Working for MTT and The MOT Club since January 2015, Ben’s background is in technology, the past ten of which have been automotive industry specific. Graduating from Plymouth University in 2001 with a Degree in Computer Science, he has over sixteen years experience in IT, working on scalable and resilient computer systems. His web services experience includes .NET, PostgreSQL and project management. In his spare time Ben enjoys surfing, windsurfing, travelling and spending time with his young family.

Gemma Roberts

Director of Training

Gemma joined The MOT Club in June 2018 and is responsible for organising training for MOT Testers and Managers. In her spare time Gemma enjoys roller skating and plays Roller Derby for her local team North Devon Roller Derby of which she is Vice-Captain of the B Team. She also coaches the Junior team of which her daughter is a member. Off skates Gemma also enjoys running, sewing, playing the piano and spending time with her family and their dog Bonnie, exploring the coast where they live.

Abigail Frost

Finance Manager

After studying Business and Admin at College, Abigail began working at MTT in 2002. She began working in reception and progressed to running the accounts for the Group. Her main role today is the everyday running of the financial side of the business; managing both the sales and purchase ledger as well as some of the administration within the company. She has extensive knowledge of accountancy software and is our go-to person for anything financially related. In her spare time, she enjoys live music, travel, cooking, keeping fit, and spending time with her family, friends and dog Walter.

James Dixon

National Account Manager North

James worked in a main dealer environment from 1986 to 1998 before joining the MTT Group in 1998, where he provided the installation and training for Garage Management Systems. From 2002 to 2007 he then worked for a National Service Network, setting up an independent network of garages to complete servicing and repair work for lease companies and the RAC. In 2008, James returned to the group and joined The MOT Club. He now combines his Audit duties with the development and delivery of our various training programs.

Ian Fletcher

National Account Manager South

Ian has worked in the Motor trade since 1980. He has worked as a Technician, MOT Tester (inc. Quality Controller), Workshop Controller, Service Advisor and Service Manager. Ian has been with The MOT Club as a Regional Manager, and more recently an Area Manager since May 2006. Ian is now combining his Audit duties with heavy involvement in the development and delivery of our various training programs.

Andy Stanford

Regional Manager / Trainer

Southern England & Isle of Wight
Bringing over 30 years of Motor Trade experience and based in Hampshire, Andy provides additional resource in the South. A Ford Master Technician, he has also operated as Nominated Tester, NTQC and Site Manager for his previous employer. As is the norm nowadays in his previous roles he had to embrace modern computer technology which places him well in utilising the expanded MOT Club website especially with the recording of the required training by DVSA.

Brett Lattimore

Regional Manager

Wales & West of England
Brett has been in the Motor Trade since 1990. He worked at Land Rover as part of a Technical Standards Team for 11 years, joining the MOT Club in 2008. Brett was primarily involved with the VSI Data System provided to ATOS/DVSA and consequently provides technical backup where required. He became Regional Manager in 2011 when VSI was abandoned.

Chris Wake

Regional Manager

Scotland & North of England
Chris has joined the MOT Club bringing over 20 years experience in the Motor Trade. Starting as an apprentice with the Benfield Group he progressed through all levels as a technician. Latterly employed at Evans Halshaw, Chris is qualified as Tester, Quality Controller, and Site Manager. Added to Health and Safety, full knowledge of Pinnacle and ADP DMS systems,  this all enables him to provide comprehensive support to all our members.

Gary North

Regional Manager

Central England
Gary has worked for the MOT Club since 2007. He has been in the Motor Trade since leaving school when he served his apprenticeship at a Vauxhall Dealership. Following this, he worked as a Tester, Quality Controller and Site Manager, with roles that included classic car restoration, race car preparation and as RAC Service Patrol for 11 years. He has worked as a Technical Advisor to Hella, Senior Technical Materials Analyst to Volvo and as a Service Advisor, Parts Manager and Warranty Administrator at a Jeep/TVR/Lotus Dealership.

Graham Carey

Regional Manager

South West England
Graham joined The MOT Club in June 2019 and brings a lot of experience with him. Working in the Motor Trade since he was 17, he did a full City and Guilds apprenticeship and worked for multiple main dealers and then in roadside assistance with the RAC. He later returned to Vauxhall where he gained his MOT Tester licence and Master Technician status, he‘s been an MOT Tester for over 13 years. Graham’s mechanical experiencce, combined with his knowledge of Franchise Dealerships make him a great fit for The MOT Club. Graham was also a member of the Royal Naval Reserve for five years as a marine engineering mechanic. His hobbies include riding his Motorbike and days out with his partner in their BMW Z4.

Gary Patrick

Regional Manager / Trainer

South West
Gary has over 30 years experience in the motor trade.
He started his career in Oxford qualifying as a Motor Mechanic, until moving to the South West in 2001 where he joined Micheldever. Whilst there he worked his way up to Branch Manager and also became an MOT tester/Site Manager.
Since joining our team here at the MOT Club in March 2025 as a Regional Manager he has qualified as a Motorcycle MOT Tester.
In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoys following the Motorcycle racing, Football and just about any sport his wife will allow him to watch on the TV….! He is also part of a local snooker team, running club and still plays football weekly too.

Sean Cundell

Regional Manager

South East England
Sean has over 30 years of Motor Trade experience, heavily involved in MOT testing. He has carried the roles of AED, Site Manager and NTQC. Until recently he was employed in the Marshall Group, running their 5 lane MOT centre in Cambridge. He also brings with him experience of Kerridge and CRM and general all-round computer skills together with extensive knowledge of working in a multi-franchise environment.

John McDonald

Regional Manager / Trainer

North of England
John has worked in the motor trade for over 20 years, ever since he left school. He has worked for Halfords and Nationwide Auto Centre, and qualified as an MOT tester in the early 2000s. After qualifying, John worked as a technician and MOT tester at Arnold Clark, working up to MOT site manager at Marshall Mercedes.
In August 2021, John joined The MOT Club as an MOT trainer. In his free time, John enjoys spending time with family, going to the gym and walking, and socialising with friends and family over meals.

Peter Shortiss

Regional Manager / Trainer

Central England East
Peter has joined the MOT Club after 16 years with the Vehicle Inspectorate/VOSA/DVSA. Originally a Vehicle Examiner, Peter progressed to Technical Trainer, a role he held until the DVSA passed all training to the private sector. Peter’s role will predominantly be a part of the training team, but in keeping with The MOT Club philosophy, he will also undertake audits for members in his designated area; ensuring that the training department is always up to date with DVSA changes and market trends.

Matthew Adams

Regional Manager / Trainer

North Midlands

Matt has worked in the motor trade for nearly 30 years in the main dealer network since leaving college having completed a motor vehicle qualification. He has always worked in Honda dealerships but also is multi-franchise dealers so also has experience with Mazda and Suzuki. He qualified as an MOT tester in 2013. In his last employment he worked in a Vertu Honda where he worked up to MOT site manager, Master technician and workshop controller.

He joined The MOT Club in 2025 as a regional manager and trainer. His hobbies include motorbikes, carpentry, photography and general DIY having refurbished his current house with his wife.

Paul Caple

SiteCheck Support Technician

National
Paul has been working in a software support role for MTT & The MOT Club since 2010. Prior to this, he worked for a market-leading Fleet Management solution for seven years. Previous roles also involved the use of in-house produced software, most notably at a major shoe manufacturer. He has used Access, Fox-Pro and Postgres databases. Outside of work he enjoys reading, listening to music, meeting up with friends and taking part in the local weekly pub quiz, producing and hosting the quiz on a regular basis.

Derran Rogers

SiteCheck Support Technician

National
Derran has worked for MTT & The MOT Club for over twenty-five years, starting with the company as a field engineer visiting customers who required on-site support/repairs. His main duties now include providing support for the MOT Club’s compliance platform, building and specifying new computer systems for customers, as well as maintaining and developing our own equipment and infrastructure. Derran has always enjoyed working with computers, building and repairing them in his spare time.

Wai Ying Hung

Accounts & Training Administrator

National
Wai joined the company in 2018 to work in our accounts department where she helps manage our customer accounts, payments & invoicing. She helps extensively with The MOT Club, in particular with enrolment on our training courses. She completed Level 3 IT Practitioners in Weston College with D*D*D and has worked in administration for a couple of years, thoroughly enjoying the role. In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, dining, computer games and spending time with her chihuahua, Pippin.
