We've pleased to announce that we've launched a new website dedicated to our MoT Training Services.

Two decades in the business, combined with the depth and breadth of our employees’ experience makes us ideally suited to manage your training requirements. Our team has experience across the board in the independent and franchise garage sector. What makes us one of the leading MoT Training organisations in the UK is our reputation for integrity, ex DVSA training staff and our strong relationship with the DVSA.

Our Director, John Ashton, advised and worked with the DVSA to design the new MoT training requirements back in 2016, granting us great insight into the new regulated MoT qualifications. We employed ex-DVSA trainer Peter Shortiss who has many years’ experience training MoT Testers with DVSA. He was also involved in the rollout of the new MTS system so has a deep understanding of key elements of the training.

ABC Awards MoT

Working closely with ABC Awards, who are the awarding body, we pay special attention to the rules and regulations required to meet the OFQUAL standards and we pride ourselves on our high level of integrity and attention to detail.  As a company, we are not solely dependent on the income from our training and this places us in a strong position to invest in our facilities, equipment and people with less risk and pitfalls that can create.

Our IT based sister company and the Group Managing Director’s IT background has helped the MoT Club put together a very efficient and streamlined enrolment system, believed to be the best in the industry. This allows us to process applications very quickly, reduces errors and means we can feedback information to candidate in a timely fashion. If we’re running efficiently it means we can handle your requirements with minimal disruption to your business.

Our strong MoT Audit program uniquely allowed us to create a very efficient Annual MoT Training product. We’re one of the few companies that can deliver true Continuous Professional Development training. Our frequent visits to Vehicle Testing Stations over the year allows us to continuously drip feed training requirements to the network. The benefit to the testing station is the MoT Tester is not overwhelmed with information. This helps workshop efficiency with no costly travel to half day training courses.

MoT Testing is Changing

The MOT Club has teamed up with ABC Awards to offer MOT Annual Training and Assessment, the DVSA have now changed the way the Tester Refresher Training happens.

It used to be that every 5 years an NT had to attend a 2 day course provided by the DVSA. This has now been replaced and the NT must complete a minimum of 16 hours training over a rolling 5-year period, complete a minimum of 3 hours training every year (April to March) and pass a 45 minute, 30 multiple choice question open book assessment. The assessment is done online and is provided by ABC Awards, the results of the assessment and evidence of training records will eventually affect the VTS's risk score making it vital for VTS's to ensure their staff achieve a high score.
Here at the MOT Club we have put a package together to help your NTs achieve desirable results, manage the recording of training and provide visibility to Managers and Authorised Examiners.

The new package will be available to members who already have the web software and includes the following :

  • A dedicated section on the website will be available in a format acceptable to the DVSA to log tester training records.
  • All NTs will be interviewed as to their comprehension of the current syllabus (Drivers View of the Road, Headlamp Testing) and appropriate records made.
  • Quality Management history will be examined for areas that require training and again tabulated. In house Quality Management will become more valid and creditable to DVSA.
  • Subsequent to Quality Management undertaken by our Regional Managers, discussions will ensue regarding routine, areas of weakness, and errors made and with reference to the Inspection Manual, education imparted and recorded.
  • The Assessment exam will be set up and administered by the Staff of the MOT Club under the accreditation of ABC Awards.
  • Where NTs or VTSs do not co-operate details will be given to the appropriate manager for supportive action.
  • All NTs will be able to exhibit in excess of the required 3 hours training.

To discuss this package, upgrade your membership, or join the MOT Club please call 01934 421335. Not a member? We can still assist with the assessment so please get in touch!
